Experience

Robert studied law at Pembroke College Oxford and qualified as a solicitor in 1989 at a large west country practice. After a broad training and later practice as a qualified solicitor in a range of fields Robert has specialized in the non-contentious field of commercial property in which he is widely experienced. He was a property partner and later head of ecclesiastical, education and charity property at Lee Bolton Monier-Williams from 2004 to March 2019.

From 2008 he has been much involved in legal work in the education sector and from 2010 in advising the Church of England’s national body and church dioceses in settling with central government model documentation for church schools wishing to convert to academies, providing strategic advice to church dioceses and in the aftermath of that supervising numerous academy conversion projects across the country. He has also been a school governor for many years and is currently chair of governors of a local church primary school offering a ‘hands on’ ground level perspective.
