Michael specialises in Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence cases. Since the early 1990’s he has specialised in complex catastrophic injury cases, particularly brain injury, and has built an exceptional reputation in this area. He works both nationally and internationally as required and is one of the most experienced Brain Injury Lawyers in this field.
Michael leads a team of assistants and colleagues, and for many years has worked alongside his wife, Lesley Batrick, also a SCOMO Consultant and a respected Neurotrauma specialist Lawyer in her own right.
In the course of his career Michael has recovered hundreds of millions of pounds in damages for clients. In their current caseload it is expected that in excess of £30m in damages will be recovered.
Most recently Michael was one of the lead Lawyers in a case (working alongside Lesley Batrick), which saw their client recover the equivalent of £18 million in damages following a tragic accident on the M62.
Michael's personal interests include - family, local history, mountain biking, dogs, surfing and the frustration of Chelsea FC since 1968!
