ScoMo Solicitor’s Witty Writings Gain Plaudits

Richard Barr, clinical negligence lawyer and much-respected doyen of the ScoMo team, has seen many of the regular columns he wrote for the Solicitors’ Journal compiled into a ‘must have’ book called The Savage Poodle, which has been very warmly reviewed.  The Times highlighted it in its Best Books For Christmas feature last month and the Law Society Gazette and others have given Richard’s excellent book rave reviews.

Richard was previously presented with the Solicitors’ Journal’s Lifetime Achievement Award by distinguished broadcaster Andrew Marr.  The Award recognised Richard’s brilliance in a changing legal world.

Richard’s SJ articles took a wry, sideways glance at the legal world and - despite the sad demise of the Solicitors’ Journal last year - we are pleased to say his wit and style are not lost forever.  The Savage Poodle is cited in The Times for Richard’s ‘gently ironical musings on life in the law’.

The Law Society Gazette’s review concludes simply that ‘we need more books like this.’ At ScoMo, we couldn’t agree more.

The Savage Poodle by Richard Barr is published by the ARK Group and is available now for £12.99 + P&P from various outlets, including major online bookstores such as Amazon
