Education Legal Services from Scott-Moncrieff & Associates Ltd

The School Education Sector

Scott-Moncrieff has launched an Education Unit comprised of our specialist consultants who together can provide a comprehensive range of legal services to the schools’ sector. Our service is directed for the benefit of:

  • Schools still operating in the maintained schools sector continuing alone as such, or linking up with other schools in informal collaborations, or more formal hard federations
  • Schools which wish, or are being forced to convert to academies but seeking control over this and assistance as to whether to strike out independently and go it alone, or join an already formed multi academy trust company (a ‘MAT’)
  • Academy trust companies – single school or MAT
  • Local authorities, or indeed law firms set up by them from their own legal departments, but where expertise therein might need to be supplemented from time to time, legal capacity increased/enhanced in some way
  • Diocesan Boards of Education, or other education and/or charity bodies requiring legal services, or such services to be supplemented from time to time, legal capacity increased/enhanced in some way
  • Independent schools (those in the independent schools’ sector, although academies can also be categorised as independent schools)

BUT all for the benefit of the education sector and not in a way which ever seeks to put a school’s governing body at odds with its land owner (local authority in the case of a community school) site trustees (in relation to any voluntary or foundation school) or, in relation to any school with a religious designation, its religious authority
