Yolanda Faulkner is a public law solicitor with a background in community care, mental health, housing and human rights. She has a particular interest in childrens’ rights: including (but not limited to) those of unaccompanied asylum seeking minors, children detained under section of the Mental Health Act 1983 and disabled children.

Yolanda qualified as a solicitor in 2004. Throughout her career in private practice, she has represented vulnerable and disadvantaged clients. She is experienced in advocating on behalf of victims of trafficking and torture in order to enable them to access appropriate support services. 

Yolanda’s cases often involve obtaining and challenging assessments and enforcing statutory duties of local authorities, health authorities and government departments. Yolanda is experienced in taking action to challenge the lawfulness of detention and seeking damages where the detention is found to be unlawful. 

In addition to her legal practice at Scott-Moncrieff & Associates, Yolanda works as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Law. She has also delivered training to NGOs on law and best practice.
