Experience:

Michael qualified as a solicitor in 1982 and was a partner in the boutique London law firm Alexander Harris.

A former chairman of a Kent based head injury charity, Michael is also a life member of Headway, and holds memberships of the Kent and Surrey Acquired Brain Injury Network as well as the Acquired Brain Injury Forum in London and the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Michael is a part-time Judge, a Criminal & Civil Recorder and Deputy District Judge (civil), a qualified mediator and holds membership of the Royal Society of Medicine.

Michael specialises in Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence cases. Since the early 1990’s he has specialised in complex catastrophic injury cases, particularly brain injury, and has built an exceptional reputation in this area. He works both nationally and internationally as required and is one of the most experienced Brain Injury Lawyers in this field.

Michael leads a team of assistants and colleagues, and for many years has worked alongside his wife, Lesley Batrick, also a SCOMO Consultant and a respected Neurotrauma specialist Lawyer in her own right.

In the course of his career Michael has recovered hundreds of millions of pounds in damages for clients. He and Lesley run a deliberately small caseload of complex and catastrophic Injury cases which allows a truly personalised approach to be adopted. In their current caseload it is expected that in excess of £30m in damages will be recovered.

Most recently Michael was one of the lead Lawyers in a case (working alongside Lesley Batrick), which saw their client recover the equivalent of £18 million in damages following a tragic accident on the M62.
