Sulaiman Lee, film of whose arrest by more than six Metropolitan Police officers in Brixton on 1 September was posted on many news outlets, is to launch a formal complaint against the force. He has appointed Terence Channer of national law firm Scott- Moncrieff, a specialist solicitor who acts in many wrongful arrest cases, to represent him.

Terence Channer says: “Sulaiman Lee was arrested in a very public and aggressive way and I will be submitting a formal complaint with the Directorate of Professional Standards for the Metropolitan Police. I have already notified the DPS of Mr Lee’s pending complaint.

“I am also advising Mr Lee regarding civil remedies which may be available to him in respect of his arrest and detention.”

Mr Lee and another man were arrested at the charity bookstall they run outside Brixton tube station. There were angry scenes as at least ten police officers acted against the charity worker.

Brixton Council leader Cllr Lib Peck said the arrests were ‘not acceptable’.
