Event 27 January 2017: The ‘New Year itch’

The ‘New Year itch’ - Law Society event addresses solicitors’ annual search for better work/life balance

A Law Society event on 26 January 2017 addresses the legal sector’s annual ‘New Year itch’ when solicitors search for a better work/life balance, perhaps working less strenuous hours and having more quality family time.

Speakers will include Laura Farnsworth who manages Rockhopper, the ‘firm within a firm’ at Lewis Silkin. Rockhopper was established specifically to enable solicitors to work from home on reduced hours and offers clients commoditised services for reduced fees.

Lucy Scott-Moncrieff and Yen Ly, from Scott-Moncrieff & Associates, will describe the self-motivation and drive that are essential attributes to making a success of independence away from a traditional firm.

As founder of his own niche practice, Tony Roe will speak about taking the leap into establishing a firm from scratch.

Caroline Flanagan, solicitor, career coach and author of Baby Proof Your Career, will address the specific issue of solicitors finding themselves at a crossroads in their career as a result of starting a family.

Rachel Brushfield, founder of EnergiseLegal and a career coach within the legal sector, plans to help solicitors liberate their talent to develop the right career path, whether changing direction or simply being more in control of time and energy.

The event will be chaired by former President of the Law Society, Lucy-Scott-Moncrieff, founder of Scott-Moncrieff & Associates.
