Yolanda Faulkner (nee Taw) is a public law solicitor with a background in mental health, community care and housing. Upon qualification as a solicitor she specialised in mental health law for a number of years. She was previously a member of the Law Society's Mental Health Panel.
Yolanda initially developed her practice in the areas of community care and housing in order to advise her mental health clients; many of her clients had a revolving door history of readmissions to hospital due to inadequate provision of community care services.
Yolanda has a particular interest in the rights of unaccompanied asylum seeking minors and other children in need, people who are disadvantaged by mental illness, and the elderly who are in need of community care services.
Yolanda has experience in using judicial review to successfully challenge adverse decisions of public bodies and secure urgent interim relief. Her reported cases include:
R (M) v Mental Health Review Tribunal [2005] EWHC 279 (Admin)
R (MM) v London Borough of Lewisham [2009] EWHC 416 (Admin)
R (Wang) v Secretary of State for the Home Department [2009] EWHC 1578 (Admin)
